To offer intellectual stimulation and networking opportunities
for community members who share an interest in lifelong learning,
Oak Hammock, in affiliation with the Elderhostel Institute Network,
has established an Institute for Learning in Retirement (ILR).
There are more than 80 such institutions across the country
including ILRs at Harvard, Northwestern, UCLA and Duke.
Designed for older adults, ILR classes will cover many subjects.
Topics may include genealogy, art and music appreciation,
history, computer use, philosophy and current events. And
heres a real bonus: When you take ILR classes, there
are no tests, no grades, no prerequisite degrees or diplomas
required. And homework is optional.
Community members who want to take classes at UF can make
arrangements through the Oak Hammock "Dean
of Residents", who will have extensive access to
University information and programs.
