2020 OHICAN! Recipients
Rebekah Browne (Server, IL Dining)
Rebekah is a server in IL Dining and has been at Oak Hammock for just over a year. In the fall semester of 2020, she completed her prerequisites at Santa Fe. Rebekah has applied to UF for the summer semester of 2021. She will enroll in the Bachelor Program of Sustainability in the Built Environment at the College of Design, Construction, and Planning. She believes that understanding institutional design and its impact on the Earth’s natural resources is critical. She has a GPA of 3.9.
Kane Ahern (Line Cook, Dining)
Kane is a Line Cook in IL Dining and has been with Oak Hammock for over two years. He is a junior at Santa Fe College in Organizational Management. Kane said his friends have always told him he is a natural-born leader. He embraces the ability to bring out the best in others. His ultimate career goal is to become a CEO. Kane has a GPA of 2.56.
Josh Friebis (Server/Bartender, IL Dining)
Josh is a server in IL dining and has been at Oak Hammock for just over two years. He is currently a senior at UF and pursuing a BA in Mathematics with a minor in Actuarial Science. His professional goal is to become an Actuary. He enjoys nature, spending time with friends, and loves to watch and play sports (Go Gators)! Josh has a GPA of 3.34.
Avionce Washington (Central Supply Clerk, SNF)
Avionce Washington Central Supply Clerk, SNF Avionce started as a CNA in Skilled Nursing in 2015 and became the scheduling coordinator. She now oversees Central Supply. Avionce completed the RN program at Rasmussen College in December 2020 and plans on taking the state exam this month. Avionce graduated with a GPA of 3.0.
Quentin Silic (Server, Dining)
Quentin is currently a server in IL dining and has been at Oak Hammock for two years. He is attending classes at UF to become an Electrical Engineer and expects to graduate in the fall of 2022. Quentin is hoping to graduate Summa Cum Laude. He says that having the support and encouragement from the Oak Hammock Scholarship, he can focus his time and attention on his studies. Quinn has a GPA of 3.88.
Jon Weisberg (Line Cook Dining)
Jon is a Line Cook in IL Dining and has worked at Oak Hammock for over six years. He is currently attending a program at Santa Fe to become a Respiratory Therapist. Jon is thankful to the residents for their generous donations to the scholarship fund. Jon has a GPA of 3.40.
Siera Miller (Server, IL Dining)
Siera is a server in IL dining and has worked at Oak Hammock for about two and a half years. She is a junior at UF majoring in Advertising and expects to graduate in the spring of 2022. Siera is appreciative of the assistance from the scholarship fund to help her achieve her educational goals. Siera has a GPA of 3.47.
Kesha Middlebrooks (LPN, Skilled Nursing)
Kesha is an LPN in skilled nursing and has worked at Oak Hammock for two and a half years. She is in her first quarter in the professional Associate Nursing degree program at Rasmussen. Kesha feels the assistance from the scholarship fund will help her become an even stronger nurse and is very grateful for the support. Kesha has a GPA of 3.00.
Julie Ann Ariet (ILR Coordinator/New Resident Liaison, Community Svs.)
Julie Ann is the ILR Coordinator/New Resident Liaison and has worked at Oak Hammock for over four years. She recently completed an online supervisory management certificate program at Michigan State University with all A’s! She is excited about the future of Oak Hammock and hopes to play a pivotal role as we grow. With all A’s in her program, Julie Ann would have a GPA of 4.00.
Daniel Rosendo (Server, IL Dining)
Daniel is a server and has worked at Oak Hammock for a year and a half. He just started a degree program at Santa Fe in Animal Science. He hopes to go to UF in the future. He is very thankful for the assistance he has received from the scholarship fund to help him advance his education. Daniel will provide his GPA at the end of this spring semester.
