The Institute for Learning in Retirement - Spring Semester

The Institute for Learning in Retirement is dedicated to the enjoyment and continued learning of its members. The curriculum is the work of volunteer members who organize and facilitate the courses, discussion groups, special events and field trips, as well as social activities, involving the ILR. The presenters are also volunteers, coming from the University of Florida, Santa Fe College and the greater Gainesville community. 

To register for classes for the Spring 2021 session of the ILR, click on the link below, select your class choices, select on-line payment or mail-in payment and press "SUBMIT!" You will recieve an email conformation back from JotForm that you have successfully registered and no further action is required.

Hear from Award-Winning Conservationist, author Audrey Peterman on Earth Day

The Florida Museum of Natural History and the University of Florida Thompson Earth Systems Institute will host Audrey Peterman on Earth Day, April 22, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Her talk is titled “Exposure to Love to Action: Mobilizing Advocates for our Earth” and will inform attendees about how physical distancing has brought people closer to our Earth and what that means for the future of our planet. Hear from the award-winning conservationist and author of “From My Jamaican Gully to the World” in this FREE virtual event followed by Q&A!

Florida Museum Virtual Film Screening

April 27, 2021 – 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm

The Florida Museum of Natural History and University of Florida Thompson Earth Systems Institute will host a virtual panel discussion about the importance and conservation of our state’s water on April 27 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. “The Santa Fe River Turtle Project,” and “Welcome to the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge Complex” are the two films that will be discussed. They will be posted on the Florida Museum’s website and YouTube channel from April 23 to 27 for attendees to view before the discussion. The event is free via Zoom, but pre-registration is required.
