Playing Our Part

Our infection control task force at Oak Hammock continues to receive new guidance from experts at UF Health; and we continue to monitor information coming from the Alachua County Health Department and the Centers for Disease Control.

We are seeing a rise in positive COVID-19 cases in Alachua County and the CDC rated the area on January 4, 2022, “high” regarding community transmission and asked that “Everyone in Alachua County, Florida, should wear a mask in public, indoor settings. Mask requirements might vary from place to place. Make sure you follow local laws, rules, regulations or guidance.”

At Oak Hammock, we have always acted out of an abundance of caution regarding the safety of our residents and staff. Until the positivity rate in Alachua County returns to a comfortable level, we will continue to follow the guidelines already in place and are initiating the following, as of January 4, 2022:

  • Everyone – including all residents and guests, regardless of vaccination status – should consider wearing a mask in all common areas and meeting spaces.
  • In-person resident home visits by members from our IT department will be limited during this time.
  • Administration will be responsible for ensuring that all Oak Hammock employees – including vendors/contractors, volunteers and interns – continue to wear masks indoors and follow our guidelines.
  • Security gate procedures will remain the same for all visitors.
  • All deliveries to residents in Buildings 1 and 2 should be made to the Commons reception area.

    • We are discouraging guests from visiting at this time, with the exception of those caring for residents with health-related issues.
    • Caregivers/outside providers must produce proof of a negative test – within the last week – at the front security gate.
    • Proof of a recent negative test for all guests is required at the front security gate.
    • Guests are not permitted in common areas.

    Meetings and Events

    • Resident meetings and events may continue at this time, with hybrid options available when appropriate.
    • Non-residents will be allowed to participate via Zoom only.

    • Transportation services will continue, with masks required.

    Common Areas

    • Everyone is encouraged to wear a mask in all common areas.
