Employee Scholarship Fund

Where Experience & Education Meet

Oak Hammock residents value education and strive to support staff members who want to pursue higher learning.

The Oak Hammock Employee Scholarship Fund, “OHICAN!” was initiated in 2019. It is managed by Oak Hammock residents and the Oak Hammock Vice President, People. It pays for scholarships to support the educational endeavors and aspirations of qualified employees — specifically, it may cover costs of completing an approved degree or certification program, thereby reducing or eliminating student loan debt.

The fund committee has developed a user-friendly application form that promotes student accountability, and a promotional brochure describing the program to employees.  The committee organizes social functions to celebrate employee students and promotes the program to employees who may be thinking of applying for scholarships.

The fund receives donations from the University of Florida Community Charities program, as well as Oak Hammock residents. To date, more than $150,000 has been paid directly to schools or institutions on behalf of the scholarship recipients.
