The Oak Hammock Macintosh Users Group, or OHMUG, provides a forum for independent living and assisted living residents interested in Apple products, including Mac computers, iPads and iPhones. Meetings feature equipment and software demonstrations, along with opportunities for questions and answers, or Q&A. The group meets on the fourth Thursday of each month (except November and December) at 7 p.m. in the Oak Room. Most meetings are preceded by a 30-minute help session.

OHMUG is an informal group of residents in the community who share an interest in Apple hardware and software. There are no officers or dues. A few members coordinate communications, select program topics and prepare and deliver presentations. After each meeting, a summary is shared with members, including links to the resources presented.

Programs are designed for adults with all experience levels—from beginners to advanced users of any Apple devices. Members learn not only from the presentations but also from one another. 

Meeting topics typically include new Apple hardware, operating system and app updates and tips for using apps and features more effectively. Traditional Q&A sessions have been replaced by a 30-minute pre-meeting period for one-on-one assistance. All questions are encouraged, including those about products from the app store, such as the benefits of the Apple watch for seniors.
