Helping Hands Employee Fund

Sometimes, people need a helping hand in life. Families may be confronted with a large, unexpected expenses beyond their means. Where can they turn?

At Oak Hammock at the University of Florida, employees who face serious sudden expenses, such as major car repairs, can apply for interest-free loans of up to $1,000, payable by monthly deductions from his or her paycheck. This option has been available for some time now, funded by voluntary donations by employees.

The fund now has evolved to provide assistance for major disasters that would significantly disrupt an employee’s life. Employees can request a larger grant, or a combination of grant and loan, to help overcome the consequences of the disaster. The amount granted is based on need.

To be eligible for the Helping Hands Program at Oak Hammock, employees must be employed for at least six months. The process is confidential and overseen by the CEO and the executive committee of the Oak Hammock Board of Directors.

This program is entirely funded by donations from employees, residents, relatives and other interested individuals. All donations are considered tax deductible. The fund balance is currently insufficient to respond to several serious disasters simultaneously. Please consider making a generous donation today to the Helping Hands Program for Oak Hammock employees.
