The Janes Garden Celebration

Categories: Resident Life

On April 6, 2022, Oak Hammock at the University of Florida officially opened The Janes Garden in the Assisted Living Courtyard, thanks to the generosity of resident Roy Hunt. It’s named after Roy’s mother, Jane Smith, and his sister Jane McLin.

Jane Smith was the third person who moved into the Health Pavilion at Oak Hammock. She was nationally prominent in the floral industry and never lost her love for gardening.

Jane McLin always spent time with her mother and enjoyed countless lunches in the courtyard. When Roy learned of the plans to enhance this space, he offered the funds for the project in memory of his two Janes.
