The Woodshop at Oak Hammock is a collection of woodworkers with varied interests and skill levels. From Art to furniture to special projects we have all the tools and expertise necessary.
Our shop is beautifully equipped with tools provided initially by Oak Hammock and added to over the years by member’s donations as they moved to Oak Hammock. We have it all: lathes, saws, sanders and routers; a terrific dust collector plus a separate room for assembly and finishing.
Past projects range from bookcases and desks, to outdoor furniture to pens and kitchen utensils to bowls both turned from logs and segmented.
Our goal is to make stuff, learn things, teach our skills to others and keep safe. But most of all to enjoy the opportunity for creativity that this wonderful hobby provides.
Our most recent projects for Oak Hammock include a set of storage cubbys for the fitness center, Bookcases in the art studio and assisted living. We have two beautiful Nutcrackers for Christmas decorations. They are about 7 feet tall. We had so store them off site this year so we made a couple “coffins” for our nutcrackers. We will resurrect them next November.
Our skill levels range from the newest beginner to experienced craftspeople. We welcome both men and women. For those who want to learn a new skill, there is always someone who can teach it to you. We love to share!
Membership is open to all residents of Oak Hammock.
