Albert Fuller, III, is a valued member of the maintenance team at Oak Hammock at the University of Florida. Born in Williston, Florida, and now living in Gainesville, Fuller brings a strong sense of family, service and community to his role in maintenance and painting services at Oak Hammock.

Fuller is easily recognized because of his bright and friendly smile. He is tall, handsome and athletic and handles any issues with ease. He is also beloved by many of the numerous residents he has assisted.

As Oak Hammock resident, Gail Robinson said, “If you want to receive the blessing of a smiling face, a positive attitude, a willing spirit and the know-how to do what you need, Albert is absolutely the man. His ability goes way beyond painting, and Oak Hammock is lucky to have him as employee. I love working with Albert on a project; he makes my day brighter and does a great job.”

Fuller is the third Albert Fuller in his family, named after both his father and grandfather. Known as “Uncle Trey” to his nieces and nephews, he values close family connections and lifelong relationships. He is also known as “Skeeter” or “Skeet” to his family.

Fuller’s grandfather, affectionately called “Big Al,” was a longtime 4-H leader in Bronson, Florida, and remains a major influence on Trey’s work ethic and commitment to helping others. Both of Fuller’s grandmothers worked in public schools, reinforcing the importance of service and care from an early age.

Fuller’s background includes athletics and hands-on skills. He played basketball and football in high school and participated in 4-H programs such as archery and riflery. After high school, he attended Bethune-Cookman University for two years, studying computer science and later gained practical experience in painting, building maintenance and electrical work through family-run business projects.

Fuller joined Oak Hammock on November 20, 2024, attracted by the strong employee benefits and the opportunity to support a thriving senior living community. Fuller learned about Oak Hammock through his mother, Ty Fuller, who has worked in Plant Operations as a housekeeper for almost 20 years.

As part of the Oak Hammock maintenance department, he supports residents through quality painting and general maintenance services that help keep the community safe, welcoming and well-maintained.

Fuller is well respected by peers and Oak Hammock administration. As Vice President for Plant Operations & Facilities Management Bill Griffin said, “Albert’s positivity is contagious. He approaches every task with a smile, delivers top-tier work and brings a sense of fun to the Maintenance Department. His reliability, quality and outstanding attitude set a great example for everyone around him.”

Recently Fuller reflected on his position at Oak Hammock:

What do you enjoy about your job?

What I enjoy most about working at Oak Hammock is the people. I value the kindness of residents and the collaboration among my colleagues on the maintenance team. I like coming to work in such a positive environment which makes my work meaningful and rewarding every day.

How do you apply We Care to what you do?

The WeCare values of welcoming, exceptional, courteous, attentive, responsive and empathetic are values just how I was raised and my approach to work. Having grown up around Oak Hammock while my mother worked here, I developed an early appreciation for resident-centered care, empathy, responsiveness and exceptional service. I try to focus on being attentive, courteous and approachable with every resident interaction.

I also make a difference by building strong relationships with residents and responding quickly to maintenance needs. From helping new residents set up their homes to supporting community projects like garden plots, I take pride in contributing to a comfortable and engaging senior living experience. I also credit my teammates, especially Erik Colomer-Rodriguez, for mentorship and teamwork within the department.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?

Outside of work, I stay active and involved in activities with my friends. I try to maintain an active lifestyle through basketball, strength training, running and fishing with my dad. I really enjoy taking cruises with a close group of friends, Darius Days and CJ Strange, who I call my brothers. One unique hobby is I like to collect basketball sneakers.

Looking ahead, I may be interested in continuing my professional growth and may return to school to complete my degree, taking advantage of Oak Hammock’s employee scholarship opportunities.
